Wood - Carving by Halima al-Rakkasa

Design is based on a period image in a Dover book of Islamic Patterns, with some modifications. Those modifications are to balance the design a little because the original was just slightly asymmetrical, but not enough to be deliberate.

The foundation is a simple box built of pine.

The piece was challenged at “working knowledge” at Seagirt’s Daffodil in 2002, with Mistress Yrsa being one of the evaluators.
